Beatles tribute band "HELP" in Fullerton

The Beatles tribute band "HELP" played to a packed crowd at the downtown Fullerton market last Thurs evening Oct 13th 2011. Under a full moon, temperate night the band pleased everyone from the little ones as well as all the grey hairs in the audience. Even the tenants in the the apartments that surround the square sat in their balcony's enjoying all the good old Beatles numbers. I shot some video of the mums swaying and the couples dancing to the tune of "I feel fine". This tribute to the Beatles "HELP" have been all over and just landed a record deal or I should say a (CD) deal. One of the first songs that the Beatles released in Australia in 1963 where I grew up was "I want to Hold your hand" (click video link ), I still have that album in perfect nik. What a night we had, enjoying the music, seeing friends again and remembering those Mop Top Beatles days. It had to be the most packed Fullerton market night ever as the array of heads with standing room only in the square, let alone at the beer garden area. Hope you enjoyed the evening, from your friendly Realtor, Glenn Ritchie.

"Dog Day Evening" in Fullerton

Dog Night last Wednesday evening at the Downtown Fullerton

Best vegie stall

market was another success. Yes, there were lots of dogs in all shapes and sizes with no cats to be seen anywhere. Every year at the Fullerton Downtown market on crn of Harbor & Wilshire Blvd we have dog night. No live band playing music to the crowd this night, but plenty of dogs and their owners showing off their best talents on stage. The proud owners sign up for the various segments of the contest that their love ones will perform. Sort of a sloppy affair really seeing a dog kissing the owners all over to see if they won the kissing phase. Then there's the look alike there owners...well that wasn't hard to figure out with some of them. Then there was the fastest eater, another easy one to figure that out... because of the size of the dog. See some of the attached pics I took during the evening. The biggest dog we saw of the night was the great dane, he was huge and the owner told me he weighed 158 lbs. When I think of the cost of keeping and feeding this size dog I felt bad as that could have fed about 25 Somalians because they are starving and don't have anything. The Museum beer garden was packed as all those patrons

care about is a nice cold beer on a warm day and agree. We have had a successful run with a Real Estate booth at the market for the past three years helping people meet their dreams. Some of the food vendors including "Jamie's Farms"and the "Dry Dock" said to me that it was one of their best nights ever for sales. Perhaps we should have the "Dog Day Evening"at the Fullerton market more often!! Cheers for now Glenn

Glenn Ritchie on Ground Cover

I want to share a great fast growing flowering ground cover that I found. I have been on the hunt for some time now to find a ground cover that is easy to grow, flowers, low to the ground, fast growing with little water. I live in Fullerton, Southern California and as you know we don't get a lot of rain. I was on the prowl to find some California natives as well as a ground cover that had some color. Well, I found this "Cotula Linearllobe" common name is "New Zealand Brass Buttons" at the College plant sale in Fullerton. This great yellow button cover sure is fast growing at nearly 3/4" a day with soft, fern-like leaves and 1" yellow flowers look like brass buttons. What a find, it grows to approx 2" tall and wide as you can get. Best thing of all is little to moderate water, sun to partial shade..perfect for the 10'x10' space that I have.

Landscaping in a different area

When my wife and I bought a beautiful home way back in 1978 I remember we were so excited to landscape the outside. We went to Armstrong Nursery in Newport Beach, California where they have a great selection and displays of gardens in the area all laid out on a large lot. We live about 25 miles inland in Fullerton and even though it's still in Orange County it's amazing how different this climate is in this area. I am originally from Australia and there we have several climates like normal countries. But this is not normal, I forget it's a desert and the temperatures varies a lot. I bought plants from that Armstrong Nursery and planted all of the ones I bought. Several weeks not months later most of the plants I thought were great were dead. It goes to show you that even though they may look great only 25 miles away that it pays to buy local plants at a nursery where one lives.
